I have a leak but I can’t find where it is, how would you find it?

We have many years’ experience in the industry which gives us a really good start on understanding of how your building is plumbed. Our engineers will use this experience and basic diagnostic techniques and equipment to identify the problem and recommend a repair.

Why is my radiator cold when my heating is working?

There are a few reasons why your radiator might be cold when your heating is switched on. This includes:

  • Faulty valves
  • Sludge in the radiator
  • Air in the radiator

If all of your radiators are cold, you should call out a gas safe engineer.

How do I bleed a Radiator?

To bleed a radiator, following these simple steps:

  • Turn off the heating.
  • Using a radiator key, remove the air by opening up the air vent at the top of the radiator. This can be fitted on any side but is always at the top.
  • Remember to turn your heating back on!

If you have a combi boiler or a sealed system, you might need to top up the pressure. Refer to boiler user instruction on how to top up the boiler’s pressure.

How much does a dripping tap cost me each year?

It can be very difficult to estimate the cost of a dripping tap, because each water board across the country will have different rates. However, water does cost money and therefore it is always best to get a drip fixed as soon as possible, to make sure you are not letting your money go down the drain!

Can Metro Plumb fix boilers?

Only a gas safe registered engineer can work on boilers. Please enquire with your local service centre to determine whether they can offer this service, or call our 24 hour helpline on 0800 415 514.
